Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh spinach (packed)
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup coconut water (or regular water)
  • 1/2 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger, peeled (optional, for digestive support)
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 4 ice cubes

Instructions

  • Start with liquid. Pour coconut water into the blender first to help the blades move freely.
  • Add greens next. Add the fresh spinach. It will compress significantly during blending, so pack it into the measuring cup.
  • Add remaining ingredients. Add Greek yogurt, protein powder, frozen pineapple, frozen banana, chia seeds, fresh ginger if using, and lime juice.
  • Add ice. Top with 4-5 ice cubes for extra cold thickness.
  • Blend thoroughly. Start on low speed to break down the greens, then increase to high. Blend for 60-90 seconds until completely smooth with no green flecks visible.
  • Check consistency. The smoothie should be thick but drinkable. Add more coconut water if too thick, or more ice if too thin.
  • Pour and enjoy. Serve immediately. Green smoothies separate quickly, so consume within 15-20 minutes for best taste and texture.
